President’s Message…
The
October Meeting is past and Officer Elections have been held. Our 2006 Officers and Board Members are:
President:
Paul Hartley
Vice President:
Terry Miller
Treasurer:
Dale Loop
Secretary:
Dave Kilmer
Board Members:
Vince Indelicato (exp. 12/31/06)
John Messersmith (exp. 12/31/07)
George Case (exp. 12/31/07)
Many
thanks to the outgoing Officers and Board Members for a job well done. Jack
Hilbert, Nelson Gould, Jeff Shriver and John Messersmith's terms will end
December 31, 2005. Thanks also to
those who participated in the election process, either by becoming a candidate
or voting. 24 Members cast votes in
this election.
Our
sanction requests for the two 2006 events have been sent in to the sanctioning
bodies and we wait for confirmation of the dates.
The Swap Meet is pretty certain, as it is a non-flying event.
As for the Giant scale event, we will have to wait for the IMAA and AMA
for confirmation
The
weather this month has been one of two things, wet or windy! Despite this there
has some very brave or foolhardy souls attempting to fly. I know, for I was one
of them! Flying in gusty winds can
best be described as challenging at best! The
Civil Air Patrol cadets held their annual rocket launch on the 15th
of October. Jack had the TCWS
kitchen open for them and served his usual excellent breakfast to an
appreciative group. About 25 cadets launched their rockets with about a 15-mph
wind blowing. They would angle the
rocket into the wind so that it would drift back to them for recovery.
This system worked pretty well! I
then gave them a short demonstration of RC flying, using my T-34 and Mustang.
We finished up just before the wind started to howl. A good time was had by all. Next year we will have a trainer
there for demonstration flights.
November
brings the first indoor Meeting at the Moose, and the field cleanup and close up
day. This will be held on Saturday
November 26 at 9AM with Sunday being the rain date. Food will be provided free of charge for those who
participate.
Until
next month, Happy Flying!
