President’s Message…
Our 29th
Annual Giant Scale Fun Fly was held on June 18th and the companion
Open Fun Fly was held on Father's Day June 19th.
The Giant Scale Fun Fly went well but was poorly attended probably
because of an ongoing scheduling conflict with the Quakertown Club.
We had 12 or so flyers with the majority coming from TCWS.
We all had a good day, there were quite a few spectators and the kitchen
did very well. We had a very good
50-50 drawing and the parking donations were significant.
All in all Saturday was enjoyable and we made some money for the Club.
The bad news in all of this was that only 15 or so TCWS Members chose to
volunteer their time to work the event.
The Open Fun Fly for
Sunday was another matter completely. By
11AM there were 4 pilots on the line. All were regular TCWS flyers.
We decided to abandon the event and break down the setup.
A few people came to the field after noontime but even the some of the
regular Sunday flyers stayed away.
We need to decide
about the future of such events at our field.
The effort required by just a few Members to stage the event is more than
the meager return that is realized. I'm
sure some Members also begrudge the loss of the field on a weekend for special
events. More will be discussed at
future meetings.
That said, our next
event is the Club Picnic. Bud
Wunder is coordinating the event. There
is a sign up sheet at the field in the pin box.
If you want to attend you must sign the sheet so we know the amount of
food needed. Also please sign up to
bring a food item to the event. The
Club provides the Pig, Hot Dogs and Hamburgers, Rolls and Drinks.
The rest is up to us. Let's
have a great day again this year!
Remember that our
Officer Elections are coming up 1 month earlier this year.
Nominations for Officers will be in September this year with the Election
in October at the last Meeting at the Field.
Please consider becoming an Officer.
Several of our current Officers and Board Members may not run again and
we need people willing to fill those positions.
The AMA requires that we have Officers to remain a sanctioned Club so
think about helping out.
Enough ranting!
Time to get out and enjoy the summer flying!
John
