President’s Message…
It’s the end of July already and the weather is great for flying!
Calm winds and warm temperatures are perfect weather to spend a few hours
flying! We have our Family Picnic
coming up on August 6th, , 4PM, rain date Sunday August 7th
. If you signed up to attend and
bring something don’t forget to attend. We
will not be having the pig roast there this year due to not enough of you
signing up, but there will be hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks and pork barbecue
provided by the club. See you
there!
Upcoming events
include the meetings at the field on August 21st, September 18th
and October 16th, all at 1:30 PM.
Elections are coming up and candidates for all offices are needed.
If you are interested in serving as an officer or board member give your
name to any officer for inclusion in the list of nominees.
Remember, Elections will be in October so nominations will be at the
September meeting.
Recently there have
been several incidents at the field worth mentioning. The first is an observation by a member that way too many
people went across the field to retrieve a downed plane. Please limit the amount of retrievers to only those needed to
locate or retrieve the plane and be courteous to those who are still flying.
The other was a plane on it’s maiden flight that got out of control and
crashed at the flight line nearly missing a pilot who was flying.
Please make sure everyone who is flying is aware of a maiden flight.
A frequency checker
has been installed in the pin bow. All
that is required to use it is to plug the power cord into the left side of it.
The instrument scans all 60 RC aircraft frequencies every 15 seconds.
When a signal on one of the frequencies is detected the corresponding LED
lights. It stays on until the next
scan after the transmitter is turned off. Sometimes
a “false signal” causes a LED that represents a frequency not in use to
light. This should clear during the
next scan.
Until next month,
Happy Flying! John

2005 Family Picnic Update

make a recommendation concerning a building to replace the two existing storage

2. Club Elections
a. Elections for 2006 officers will held at the October meeting.

4.
Field Courtesy to Pilots
a. A complaint was presented on behalf of Dale Loop regarding the number of people who proceed onto the field to help retrieve a crashed plane.
i. By-Laws indicate that no more than two people retrieve a crashed plane and that rule was upheld by the members in attendance if others are flying at the time.
b. A second situation was presented relative to flying new aircraft for the first time.
i. It is recommended that if a new plane is being test flown, others pilots are made aware prior to take-off.
