Unofficial Meeting Minutes… 19 February 2004
President Karen Loop called the
meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Hamburg, PA.
(14) members, (1) visitor and (1) associate member were present.
Jack Hilbert read the Secretary’s report for January with a motion to
accept by Terry Miller, seconded by Bud Wunder, and all approved.
Jack Hilbert read the Treasurer’s report as of 19 February 2004.
A motion to accept was made by Walt Gladney, seconded by Jim Paul, and
all approved. Lee Buskirk won the
50/50 raffle drawing, ($5.00).

Old Business…
1.
Working Airplane Model for Reading Airport Display
a.
John Messersmith reported that he and Dave Renninger are
making progress on the educational display model.
i.
Once a plan is finalized, cost estimates will be presented to
the membership for approval.
2.
2004
Swap Meet Update
a.
Dave Renninger reported sale of table space continues to go
well.
b.
Karen Loop will meet with “Sherry” and learn the
locations of all circuit breakers, gas shut off valves, etc., in the kitchen.
c.
Production of the announcements is bring completed by Carl
Colasanti.
d.
Dave Renninger to handle the distribution at the WRAM show
and Lebanon Swap Meet, as well as local hobby shops.
e.
Bud Wunder will co-ordinate getting the announcement on the
local TV community bulletin board at the Reading TV Station.
f.
Karen Loop has also submitted the information to other Lehigh
Valley community bulletin boards.
g.
Table rates for 2005 will be increased to $12.00 and $7.00
for wall and row tables respectively.
3.
TV
Program for 2004 Swap Meet Advertising –
a.
Bud Wunder reported there are no slots yet available and we
cannot just wait till the last minute to see if one becomes available.
We will therefore pass on this approach for this year.
4.
Lebanon Swap Meet –
a.
Walt
Gladney reported that the Club will have tables 4,5,6,7,& 8 in row H at the
event.
b.
Walt,
Dave Renninger and Larry Smith will man the tables however other volunteers are
welcome to assist.

New Business…
1.
2004 Fly In –
a.
TCWS will again host a summer Giant Scale Fly In.
b.
Date will be 19 June with open flying available on the
afternoon of the 18th.
c.
Larry Smith has agreed to be contest director.
d.
Dave Renninger will be responsible for the kitchen activity
that weekend.
2.
Newsletter Corrections –
a.
Walt
Gladney mentioned there is one correction needed to the Newsletter;
i.
Our table location at Lebanon is Row H, not Row 8, as
indicated..
3.
Family Picnic –
a.
The
date will be 08 August with 15 August as the rain date.
b.
Club
will provide Pig Roast and Soft Drinks
c.
Members
to all provide a “covered dish”.
d.
An
organizing committee is being headed by Dale Loop.
e.
Walt
Gladney will invite our field neighbors.
4.
By-Law Amendment
a.
Karen
Loop has proposed an amendment to Section 4, page 44 of the current By-Laws
which raises the amount of money which can be authorized by the Board without
getting full membership approval from $50.00 to $200.00.
b.
Karen
Loop motioned the above amendment be proposed to be changed and it was seconded
by Walt Gladney.
c.
The
proposed change will be voted on for acceptance at the March meeting.
d.
Any
member who wants to cast a vote, but cannot make the meeting, can do so by
contacting any of the Club Officers.
5.
Club History and Over-all By Law Update
a.
Karen
Loop will coordinate the efforts to have the Club history and complete set of
By-Laws updated and made current.
6.
Lawn Care Services for 2004
a.
Karen
has confirmed with Green Giant that they will provide our fertilizing and weed
control needs for the 2004 flying season.
b.
Costs
are estimated to be $ 368.40.
c.
A
motion was made by Walt Gladney and seconded by Ray Lucas to allow Dale Loop to
pay for these services as they are rendered.
7.
Tractor Repairs
a.
A suggestion was made to have a single person responsible for
an over-all maintenance plan and budget for the Tractor operations.
b.
This suggestion was NOT approved by the membership in favor
of maintenance and funding from general club account on an “as needed”
basis.
c.
The tractor is currently in need of repairs and the following
plans were tabled;
i.
Purchase a new shaft for the existing hydraulic pump and
install. Estimated cost to be
$300.00.
ii.
If the new shaft doesn’t resolve the problem, purchase and
install a new hydraulic pump. Estimated
cost to be $1,500.00.
iii.
A motion was made by Terry Miller, seconded by Jeff Shriver
and approved by all to allow Sam Miller to make the above purchases and
coordinate the work to be done.
d.
The tractor will also need new tires and wheels in the near
future.
i.
John Messersmith will coordinate this activity.
8.
Club Fund Raiser – Tupperware Sale
a.
Karen
Loop proposed the TCWS hold a Tupperware Plastic fund raiser.
b.
Jane
Kramer was present at the meeting and explained the program
i.
Sales brochures and order forms will be distributed at the
March meeting.
ii.
All orders along with PRE-PAYMENT are to be handed in at the
April meeting.
iii.
A “pick-up” time will be scheduled to deliver the goods
to those who handed in the orders for final delivery to the customers.
c.
Participation
is voluntary. – The Club receives 50% of sales made.
d.
A
motion to proceed was made by Bud Wunder, seconded by Walt Gladney and approved
by a majority.
e.
Any
member who wants to participate but cannot make the March meeting should contact
Karen Loop to get the brochures and order forms.
f.
Any members wishing to purchase Tupperware but not
participate as sellers are also welcome and can contact Karen as well.
9.
IMAC – 2004
a.
TCWS
will again host an IMAC event in co-operation with the Harrisburg Club.
b.
Proposed
dates are 25th and 26th September.
c.
Karen
Loop will coordinate with Pete Castine.
10.
Kitchen Improvements
a.
The
following recommended improvements to the field kitchen were proposed;
i.
New higher capacity water pump – Est. cost @ $50.00.
ii.
Hot water heater – Est. cost @ $150.00.
b.
A motion to approve was made by Bud Wunder and seconded by
Terry Miller.
c.
Dave Renninger will coordinate the purchase and installation.
11.
Field Clean-Up Day
a.
Scheduled
for 3 April – 9:00 AM - lunch will be provided for all those helping out

1.
Trip
to New Smithsonian Air and Space Museum – The Delaware Valley Federation of
Model Airplane Clubs is sponsoring a bus trip on 25 April 2004.
The bus leaves Neshaminy Mall at 8:00 am and returns approximately 8:00
pm. Costs are estimated at $25-$38
per head, depending on final count. If
