Unofficial Meeting Minutes… 18 March 2004

 

President Karen Loop called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Hamburg, PA.  (10) members, (1) new member and (1) associate member were present.  Jack Hilbert read the Secretary’s report for February with a motion to accept by Bud Wunder, seconded by John Messersmith, and all approved.  Jack Hilbert read the Treasurer’s report as of 18 March 2004.  A motion to accept was made by Nelson Gould, seconded by Dennis Sell, and all approved.  Jack Hilbert won the 50/50 raffle drawing, ($5.00).

Old Business

 

1.      Working Airplane Model for Reading Airport Display

a.      John Messersmith and Dave Renninger reported that progress has been made but until some definition as to available space and expectation of model size, no further work can proceed.  Karen Loop is to contact Reading Airport to obtain the necessary information.

 

2.      2004 Swap Meet Update

a.      Dave Renninger reported sale of table space continues to go well, only (22) tables are left unsold.

b.      Karen Loop met with the Fire Chief and learned the locations of all circuit breakers, gas shut off valves, etc., in the kitchen.

c.      Announcements have been distributed as planned.

 

3.      TV Program for 2004 Swap Meet Advertising

a.      Bud Wunder hosted a (30) minute show on 10 March along with Karen Loop, Nancy Messersmith and Jack Hilbert.  Bud Wunder made a motion which was seconded by John Messersmith and approved by all for the Club to send a thank you note along with a check for $100.00 to the Berks County TV Station.

 

4.      Lebanon Swap Meet –

a.      Walt Gladney reported that the Club tables were successful and thanked Jeff Shriver, Larry Smith and all those who also participated.

 

5.      2004 Fly In –

a.      Larry Smith has agreed to be contest director.

b.      Jack Hilbert will be responsible for the kitchen activity that weekend.

 

6.      Family Picnic –

a.      Karen Loop reported that Dale Loop will organize the Picnic.

 

7.      By-Law Amendment

a.      The membership in attendance unanimously voted to amend Article III, Section 4, page 44 of the current By-Laws to raise the amount of money which can be authorized by the Board without getting full membership approval from $50.00 to $200.00.

b.      The revision will be incorporated into the By-Laws Upgrade currently being managed by Karen Loop.

 

8.      Club History and Over-all By Law Update

a.      Karen Loop is coordinating the efforts and had no new information to report.

 

9.      Tractor Repairs

a.      The new hydraulic pump was installed and works fine.  Our THANKS to Dennis Christman and George Case for performing the labor.

b.      The tractor also needs new tires and wheels.

                                                   i.      Jack Hilbert contacted the TORO distributor in Doylestown for current pricing.

                                                 ii.      Nelson Gould suggested Dixiesales.com be checked for comparison prices.

                                                iii.      Walt Gladney made a motion and Nelson Gould seconded it to allow a maximum of $1,200.00 to be spent to obtain (14) new tires and (8) new wheels.  The motion was approved by all.

                                               iv.      Jack Hilbert will order the parts and pick up when available.

 

 

 

 

10.  Club Fund Raiser – Tupperware Sale

a.      Jane Kramer was present at the meeting and distributed books and order forms.

                                                   i.      All orders along with PRE-PAYMENT are to be handed in at the April meeting.

                                                 ii.      A “pick-up” time will be scheduled to deliver the goods to those who handed in the orders for final delivery to the customers.

 

11.  IMAC – 2004

a.      Karen Loop is coordinating with Pete Castine and had nothing new to report.

 

12.  Kitchen Improvements

a.      Dave Renninger reported that Lee Buskirk is donating the hot water heater and the two of them will install the new heater and water pump on 3 April as part of the Field Work Party.

 

13.  Field Clean-Up Day

a.      Scheduled for 3 April

                                                   i.      8:30 AM – breakfast available

                                                 ii.      Work starts at 9:00 AM

                                                iii.      Lunch will be provided for all those helping out

b.      Work to be accomplished includes;

                                                   i.      New hot water heater and pump for the kitchen

                                                 ii.      New grass carpets under the flight stands

                                                iii.      Painting the window frames in the kitchen.

                                               iv.      Weather protecting the picnic tables and flight stands.

                                                 v.      New tires and wheels on the Tractor.

c.      HELP IS NEEDED TO ACCOMPLISH THE ABOVE

 

There was no other old business at the time.

 

 

New Business

 

1.                  Club Apparel

a.      Karen Loop reported that Hats, Sweatshirts and T-Shirts were ordered and have arrived.

 

2.                  Display of Membership Cards

a.      It was agreed to make 01 May as the effective date for requiring TCWS membership cards to be visible by all pilots.

b.      Since TCWS membership cards cannot be obtained unless AMA status is active, displaying AMA cards is not mandatory.

c.      Jack Hilbert will post signs at the field accordingly.

 

3.                  Flying Etiquette and Safety

a.      It was noted that some flyers are lax in exercising proper etiquette and on serving safety rules when flying.

b.      Any club member has the right to advise any pilot who is observed to be violating TCWS and /or AMA rules.

c.      LETS MAKE OUR FIELD A FUN AND SAFE PLACE TO FLY!!

 Announcements…

 

1.      Trip to New Smithsonian Air and Space Museum – The Delaware Valley Federation of Model Airplane Clubs is sponsoring a bus trip on 25 April 2004.  The bus leaves Neshaminy Mall at 8:00 am and returns approximately 8:00 pm.  Costs are estimated at $25-$38 per head, depending on final count.  If interested, call Tom Haake @ 215.332.1449 or e-mail him – TomH1449@voicenet.com
