Old
Business…
1.
Swap Meet Review – The TCWS will not be honoring any
requests for table rental fee refunds. Any
loss claims can be forwarded to: Union
Fire Co, 122 South 4th Street, Hamburg, PA
19526, Attn: Shelly O'Neil. Sam
Miller is to present a report on the TCWS losses for the insurance claim.
All Board of Directors members (BOD) were present at a special meeting
and unanimously voted on all issues. Walt
Gladney presented a financial review of the event.
Thanks go out to all participants.
It was reported that the 2004 rental fee for the Hamburg Field House
would be reduced as a result of our misfortune.
Dale Loop is to follow up on securing the reduced 2004 rate. In the
future we will try to keep the doors locked until 7 a.m. with no admittance
until that time. There was
discussion of downsizing the breakfast and lunch services to reduce the amount
of work. A letter will be sent to
AMA documenting the occurrence for purposes of record.
2.
Kutztown Vintage Days (May 24 & 25) – Carl Colasanti
needs a minimum of one (1) volunteer to assist in the monitoring of the booth.
Carl can be reached at 610-683-9388 and at cprinting@msn.com.
Volunteers are needed to participate and bring airplanes.
We have a planned setup (example from the time the Blue Angels were at
Reading). The timeline is 9 a.m.
until about 2 p.m. Our liability
insurance states that off-site flying can only be done if primary reason is
for R/C flying; other reasons nullify coverage.
It would have to be thru show team arrangements to be covered.
3.
Field Preparation – Lime has been applied.
Stone has also been applied to the upper drive area.
Raking of the stone at the pavilion is still required.
Water has been found in the transmission of the mower.
George Case has taken care of the necessary repairs w/o cost to the
club. A big thanks goes out to
George for his continued dedication. Sam
Miller will take care of the field rolling.
The Green Giant Company will apply the fertilizer.
The drive has been re-graded and the company that fertilizes the fields
will apply stone to the drive.
There
was no other old business at the time.
New
Business…
1.
Harrisburg Club Sponsor Event – Details were presented at
the meeting. The Harrisburg club
originally held their annual event over Labor Day weekend.
A frequency problem is the cause for the relocation of the fun-fly.
The issue was opened up for discussion.
A notice to Pete Castine (CD for the event) will be sent and
arrangements to follow.
2.
Reading Airport – There has been a request to participate
in a May 3rd display event. A
discussion was had and it was determined to respond “no”.
There was no other new business at
the time.

Helpful
Hints…
6 Firewall Tips
1.
Use a "hole pencil" or other device to accurately
mark where to drill holes for the engine mount.
2.
Check blind nuts before you install them in a firewall.
Sometimes the threads aren't quite right and it's better to know before you use
them.
3.
When possible, it's easier to install blind nuts to the
firewall before the firewall is attached to the fuselage.
4.
Always use triangle stock in the corners near a firewall;
these add a lot of strength to the corners.
5.
After the blind nuts are in the firewall, use a little thick
CA or epoxy around the outside flange to secure them, but make sure you don't
get glue on any threads.
6.
Use hex bolts for engine mounts, and use the little hex
wrenches. The 90-degree bend in the tool allows better leverage when tightening
engine bolts.
Tack Cloth
Make an inexpensive tack cloth by
lightly misting a paper towel with water, and then wipe your balsa plane before
covering. This will remove balsa dust, even dust that vacuuming doesn't get.
This should result in a better covering finish.
