Unofficial Meeting Minutes:

President Walt Gladney called the meeting to order at 1:35 p.m. at the Field Pavilion in Lenhartsville, PA.  Nineteen (19) members and five (5) associate members were present.  Jeff Shriver read the Secretary’s report for May with a motion to accept by Bud Wunder, seconded by Karen Loop, and approved.  Dale Loop read the Treasurer’s report for May with a motion to accept by George Case, seconded by Bob Miller, and approved.

Old Business…

1.      Kutztown Vintage Days 2003 – There wasn’t much traffic at the event.  Few flyers were handed out due to the poor weather.  Thanks goes out to those who helped setup.

2.      June 6 Berks Co. TV Program – Bud Wunder presented a directions map to the field.  This was accidentally left out of the program.  However, details were given on the show.  Jack Hilbert assisted with the setup and presentation.  A thanks goes out to both for their efforts.  A motion was made by Bud Wunder, seconded by Bob Grim, and approved to donate $50 to the Berks Co. TV Station.

3.      Appreciation Day – For Sam Miller and George Case, Walt Gladney proposed to give a $50 check to George Case and his wife and a $200 check to Sam Miller and his wife and daughters for their continued efforts for the TCWS.

4.      Swap Meet Insurance Activity – Sam miller was contacted by an insurance adjustor.  Details regarding the event were discussed.  No other information was available at the time.

5.      2004 Swap Meet Field House Lease – Half the usual rate to rent the field house has been secured by Dale Loop.  This includes kitchen and audio.  This reduced rate was the result of the misfortune of the 2003 Swap Meet field house fire.  A motion was made by Vince Indelicato, seconded by Bud Wunder, and approved to provide the necessary $125 down payment.

There was no other old business at the time.

New Business…

1.      Harrisburg Club Representatives – Pete Castine (event CD and Harrisburg club treasurer) was present to provide details regarding the August event.  At this time, radio interference is providing problems at their field, possibly due to HDTV broadcasts.  This is the last year for their current lease at the field.  The event was scheduled for June 7th & 8th, 2003.  It will be in IMAC contest format, which typically includes larger type aircraft, scale aerobatics, and sequenced, judged maneuvers.  Pete’s proposal is the following:

·         All volunteers will be provided by Pete

·         Pilot fees will cover trophies & contest director expenses

·         Typically there will be 30-50 pilots, depending on the weather

·         For an average of 200-300 people, the concessions would be provided by the TCWS by choice

·          Any remaining fee collected would be turned over to the TCWS for our efforts

The event would run from 8 - 5 on Saturday and 9 – 2 (?) on Sunday.  Pete would handle the notification of camping facilities and hotels.  A motion was made by George Case, seconded by Karen Loop, and approved to accept Pete Castine’s proposal as presented.

2.      TCWS 2003 Fun-Fly – Larry Smith confirmed the setup details.  Some general details were presented by Walt Gladney including setup times, volunteers, etc.

There was no other new business at the time.
