Old Business…

1.      Swap Meet Mtg. – The meeting is scheduled for January 30, 2003, 7 p.m. @ Hummel’s in Lenhartsville.

2.      Lebanon Swap Meet Update – The tables (H3-8) have been secured.  Larry Smith, Walt Gladney, and the club are to each pay for (2) tables each.

3.      TCWS Swap Meet – As of the January meeting, approximately 34% of the tables have been sold.  There are a few new people this year so far.  Most of the tables usually sell in the last (2) weeks before the event.

4.      Flyer Printing (Swap Meet & Fun-Fly) – Colasanti Printing performed the service for 2002.  Either way, a commitment is needed from the company.

5.      Doylestown Swap Meet – Event occurs on February 22.  This is in conflict with the WRAM show in New York (February 21-23).

6.      Berks County TV Program – Bud Wunder is the coordinator.  We may want to extend it to 1-hour to cover pictures of flying and the field.  The setup is tentatively March 3 (7 or 7:30); we will join with a sports program, and have their hosts narrate.  Jack Hilbert is to assist in the coordination.  We may want to include Larry Smith for the helicopter side of R/C.

New Business…

1.      Bob Grim for Life Membership – Bob is the longest running member of the TCWS.  He has helped secure fields for the club.  He was also the first to build a big plane using a weed-eater engine.  His Life Membership is to begin in 2004 and dues will be free as long as AMA is covered.  A motion was made by Bud Wunder and seconded by John McLaughlin.

2.      Youngest Leader Member – Larry Smith is to create a committee that would provide suggestions for club officer positions at the September meeting.  This would be a slate of nominees that would be willing to serve.

There was no other new business at the time.

Announcements…

1.      Attempted Break-In

George Case reported that the large shed had a window and screen smashed in, but nothing seems to be missing.  George is to look into a mock repair for the time being.

2.      WRAM Show

The show is scheduled for February 21-23.  The Sunday portion is the best with the static showing.

3.      TCWS Newsletter

The following individuals are currently receiving an electronic TCWS newsletter.  Once again, to save on increasing postage costs, anyone willing to have their newsletter emailed each month should notify me at jeff773@fast.net.

Helpful Hints…

Ultracote Printing

Goldberg Ultracote film covering has a paper backing that you can print on. Cut a 8.5 X 11 inch sheet, put it in an inkjet printer, and print your design on the paper backing (don't use a laser printer or anything that uses heat - it'll destroy your covering). This works well for large lettering. Make sure your image is reversed, so that when it's printed on the backing you can cut it out and it'll be correct when ironed on your plane. If you want to use a piece of covering that's smaller, print the design onto paper first. Then carefully tape the Ultracote to the paper over the design. Then run the whole thing through your printer, and the design should print in the same place.

Antenna Holder

Here's a way to attach a receiver antenna to the back of your plane after it exits the fuselage. Take a short length of fuel tubing and make two cuts into it, dividing it into thirds, but make the cuts go through the tubing only halfway. Then pin the tubing to the top of the plane's fin. Thread the antenna through the tubing, lacing it through the cuts. This will keep the antenna somewhat taught and out of the way of control surfaces.
