Meeting Minutes:
President Walt Gladney called the
meeting to order at 1:35 p.m. at the Field Pavilion in Lenhartsville, PA.
Twenty-one (21) members and one (1) associate member were present.
Jeff Shriver read the Secretary’s report for June with a motion to
accept by Dave Renninger, seconded by John Messersmith, and approved.
Jeff Shriver read the Treasurer’s report for June as presented by Dale
Loop with a motion to accept by George Case, seconded by Terry Miller, and
approved. George Case won the 50/50
raffle drawing.
Old
Business…
1.
August 23/24 IMAC Event – Nobody was present from the
Harrisburg club to present information. A
letter drafted by Walt Gladney has been presented to the local township
outlining the event and a copy is on file with the TCWS.
2.
Swap Meet Insurance Activity – Nothing further has been
heard from regarding the event. An
AMA representative will be contacted prior to the August meeting.
There
was no other old business at the time.
New
Business…
1.
Address For The Field – The TCWS now have an actual mailing
address for the filed. Walt Gladney
suggested a township sign be placed for emergency-related occurrences to post at
the base of the driveway. Costs
were discussed for the sign with the fire company - $18, $25, or donation.
Discussion for the placement of a mailbox to collect TCWS mail was also
heard. George Case and Dennis
Christman will coordinate the post installation.
Walt Gladney is to handle the sign arrangements.
2.
Field Mower Repairs – George Case has suggested having
someone knowledgeable look at the mower. The
wheels on the gang mower are damaged and need replaced.
Tires also need checked and/or replaced.
Discussion was heard on replacing the whole mower deck.
George Case and/or Dennis Christman are to look into a contact and the
best price for obtaining repair work. The
mower works in regular field conditions but not so well in heavy, wet grass.
3.
Roof Leak – George Case reports that rain and snow have
come thru the roof vent at the ridge. A
repair is necessary.
4.
Membership Card Distribution – There are reportedly
problems with members receiving their annual TCWS membership cards after payment
of dues. It is difficult for Dale
Loop to be present due to a conflicting work schedule.
Ideas were discussed for getting cards more efficiently –
self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE), extra postage for a separate mailing,
etc. A motion was made by Kip
Daubert, seconded by George Case, and approved to receive cards via SASE.
5.
Flowers By Sign – Dave Renninger reports that George and
Marion Case have provided flowers for the TCWS field sign.
A thanks goes out from the TCWS.
There was no other new business at
the time.

1.
2004 Official Officers Slate – The October Meeting is the
deadline for the nomination list. A
report is due at the September meeting.
2.
Safety At The Field – Remember the transmitter must have a
frequency pin. Check to see if the
transmitter is ‘on’ or ‘off’. No
taxiing into or out of the pit area.
3.
Cigarette Butts – Please discard these into the appropriate
receptacles. A few 5-gallon metal
pails with lids are wanted. Please
contact George Case if you have any.
4.
For Sale New In Box (NIB) - O.S. .40 LA w/ muffler (Natural). If interested, contact Bud Wunder @ 610-929-5956 after 5 p.m.
5.
Spaghetti Splash – August 17
Plan
on indulging in a once in a lifetime (at least once this summer) experience to
sample jack’s homemade spaghetti and meatballs.
Dave
Renninger and Jack Hilbert will once again put on their aprons and go on another
Culinary Crusade in the TCWS kitchen. You’ll
be impressed with the flavor of Jack’s sauce and especially impressed with the
way Dave boils water to cook the spaghetti.
We’re estimating the price to be $5.00 per person for Salad, Bread,
Spaghetti w/ Meatballs and a Soda.
Dinner
will be served at approximately 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 17.
Plan
on attending the club meeting and then hanging around to watch and enjoy the
flying (participating would be fun too!).
