TCWS Club Field
Old Business
Fun-Fly/Township
Notification A file copy has been retained.
Field Preparation
The weed and feed has been applied to the field.
The cost was $279. The area
from the flight pads on out has been treated. Another
feeding in the autumn is tentatively scheduled. Recommendations
on the application of lime and aeration were heard from members. The members can possibly do it. The issue was tabled for now. A suggestion was made to have the same treatment
done between the pads and the pavilion by the club. A
motion was made by Jack Hilbert and seconded by George Case to have a $100 limit to
perform the work.
Fun-Fly Bill
Lengle and Larry Smith will each donate one tent for use at the fun-fly. Cards have been mailed for the event, which also
mention the Swap Shop. Only the 50/50 raffle
will be held during the event. There are 9
prize mugs currently located at the pavilion. Dave
Renninger needs volunteers for periodic help. Volunteers
are still needed to assist with parking. Baked
goods or soup may be donated for the kitchen sales, if anyone is interested.

concerning a possible joint club venture of the Edelstein Airfield. It is located between Topton and Mertztown. It consists of 97 acres, a 1700-ft grass runway, a
3-BR house to rent, and a full-size airplane hangar.
The land has farmable timber and the price is $565,000. Anyone willing to partake in this venture should
contact Dave Glockner.

Helpful Hints
Repairing Dings
& Dents
Have you ever had a dent in a balsa leading edge? Try fixing it with water! Get a small
diabetic syringe and put water in it. Inject a little water into the balsa into and around
the dent in the leading edge. Heat the area with your covering iron. When the water starts
boiling, it will build pressure and push the balsa out to its original shape.
De-burring Brass
Tubes
I use 1/8"
brass tubing for fuel lines through firewalls. Silicone fuel tubing is connected to the
brass on both sides of the firewall. To provide a better fit and extend the life of the
silicone fuel tubing, carefully de-bur the ends of the brass by running a hobby knife
along the inside edge of the brass. Then use fine sandpaper to smooth the outside edges.
Since brass is a soft metal, the fine sandpaper (about 220 grit) works very well.
